Quick-fix cosmetic dentistry

Quick-fix cosmetic dentistryThere is now a range of cosmetic dentistry procedures to suit even the busiest person, it has been revealed.

The Daily Mail reports that improving a smile is now just as easy as "popping into your local salon for a lunchtime facial or getting a manicure".

However, British Association of Cosmetic Dentistry (BACD) board member James Goolnik warns that teeth whitening services are often being offered by non-dentists, who under General Dental Council guidelines should not be carrying out the procedure.

Mr Goolnik adds that firms which offer hydrogen peroxide whitening will give effective results but there is no evidence that this method is any faster than traditional techniques.

Fellow BACD board member Dr Tif Qureshi recommended opalescence bleaching as an effective alternative to in-surgery whitening.

"Full smile makeovers can definitely have an anti-ageing effect and boost one's confidence, providing you visit a properly qualified cosmetic dentist," he advised.

A BACD survey found that Kylie Minogue, Julia Roberts, George Clooney and Simon Cowell top the list of favourite celebrity smiles.ADNFCR-1374-ID-18604446-ADNFCR
