Popularity of invisible braces 'grows'Demand for invisible braces is increasing, reports TradingMarkets.com.

Dr Jackie Demko told the website that she has around 100 patients for the treatment a year, compared to less than five when she began offering it eight years ago.

Invisalign, the invisible brace product, claims that 87 per cent of its users are extremely or very satisfied with the treatment, the site added.

The news provider reports that 26,000 doctors ordered Invisalign products in 2006, a 17 per cent increase on the previous year.

It also claims that around 46,000 doctors have taken the training to become providers of the braces.

Dentists have warned that the treatment is less painful than traditional metal braces but patients can experience some unease.

Orthodontist Robert Waxler said: "Everybody has some degree of discomfort. You cannot move a tooth without getting sore."
