Police tell victim to say attacker cracked his tooth

An attack victim has claimed that a Denver police detective told him to lie and say that his assailants had cracked his tooth.

Allen Andes, whose tooth was cracked before he was mugged, accused the detective encouraged him to suggest that his tooth had been broken during the robbery.

Denver Police Department has now launched an internal investigation and prosecutors have had to reduce charges against the seven suspects who have been charged for the attack on Andes.

If misconduct is found defense attorney’s could use this to challenge the Denver Police Department’s credibility in future assault cases.

Andes claimed that eight black men attacked him after he left bar on Larimer Street at around 2am on 23 Aug 2009.

A wallet containing credit cards and $40 was stolen.
