Police arrest two suspects in dental practice burglary case

Police have arrested two people in connection with a spate of burglaries in Bacolod City in the Philippines.

The couple are suspected of targeting a number of dental clinics in the Bacolod area and have reportedly stolen cash, personal possessions and bags in a spate of crimes. The couple, who have been named as Ira Santa Maria and Jonathan Docto Jr, are from Negros Occidental. They are now being detained and questioned by police.

Several witnesses and complainants have come

to the police with evidence and statements confirming the identity of the couple and the details of their alleged crimes. The evidence suggests the pair repeatedly visited a number of different dental clinics and stole handbags and personal possessions from staff and patients, while they weren’t looking. It is believed that Mr Docto acted as a lookout, while Ms Santa Maria stole the possessions.

Police received a tip-off from the father of one of the victims and pursued the couple, who were found with another person’s handbag and subsequently arrested. Ms Santa Maria and Mr Docto Jr are being held at Station 6 and have denied all the allegations against them; Ms Santa Maria also complained she was being harassed by a member of the police force.
