A Plymouth dental practice will remain open, despite the fact there is currently a shortage of dentists. Patients at Smile Dental Care, which is based at Ernesettle Primary Care Centre, have been advised to visit a surgery across the city for treatment while the practice recruits a new dentist, but they have been assured that the clinic will not close.

The practice is currently recruiting for a new dentist, and in the meantime, patients will be treated by a team in Cattledown. In light of the news, some patients took to social media to share their views and alert other patients to the changes. Shontelle Jones informed friends and local followers that she had spoken to a receptionist at the clinic, who had confirmed that the practice was currently looking for a new dentist and would not be closing. The practice advised patients to contact the Cattledown surgery to make appointments until a new dentist joins.

A spokesperson for Smile Dental Care confirmed that the practice was currently searching for a new dentist to join the team, but as for many practices across the country, this wasn’t proving to be an easy mission. However, the team is doing everything possible to fill the vacancy and patients are assured that the clinic will not close. As a temporary measure, treatment will be available at the Cattledown surgery. The team hopes to be able to confirm a new addition in the coming weeks.
