Plymouth dental clinic closed temporarily after fire

A dental clinic in Plymouth has been forced to close temporarily after a fire broke out last week.

Fire crews were called to the Dental Access Centre in Baring Street on the 2nd August. Fire had broken out in the building and plumes of smoke were seen pouring out of the back of the premises at approximately 7.10pm.

The practice was closed down by health officials following the blaze on the grounds of public safety, and efforts are currently being made to make the premises safe again so the clinic can reopen to the public.

Representatives from Devon and Somerset Fire Service have confirmed that the fire was an accident, but local police are investigating the incident.

Lisa Stanton, from Livewell Southwest’s communication team said that all patients who have been affected by the temporary closure have been contacted and appointments that were scheduled have been rearranged at alternative clinics, including Scott Hospital, Peninsula Dental School and the Cumberland Centre.

The centre will not be reopening until the premises are completely safe, but the telephone lines are up and running, so if anybody has questions or concerns, they are encouraged to call.
