Peterhead dental practice gets the green light for expansion plans following government intervention

A dental practice in Peterhead has been given the green light for expansion plans after the government intervened. Councillors in Aberdeenshire said that proposals put forward by Queen Street Dental would have a “negative impact” on the local area, but the plans have now been approved by the Scottish Government.

The plans outlined ideas for the practice to relocate to new premises in an adjacent building, but councillors in Aberdeenshire believed that the proposal would not fit in with the surrounding landscape, as the new building was too modern. In April, the plan was rejected by members of the Buchan committee, but developers decided to appeal the decision and sent the proposal to the Scottish Government.

Jo-Anne Carrick, government reporter, said that there were no reasonable grounds for the proposals to be rejected and subsequently granted permission for the build. Although the building would look more modern, it was decided that the new premises would be sympathetic to the adjoining structures and the streetscape in general.

Queen Street Dental Centre is run by Balmoor Dental Surgeries.
