A tooth bus, which toured the towns of Oxfordshire, has successfully referred more than 300 people for dental treatment.

The bus visited towns in Oxfordshire to provide oral health information and advice and routine check-ups to people who find it difficult to see a dentist. Almost 400 people had a check-up on the bus and the dental team referred 300 people for further treatment.

Shapour Hariri, director of Iosis Clinics, the firm in charge of the tooth bus, said that the figures confirm that the bus has done a valuable job, referring 300 people for dental treatment. The aim of the bus was to encourage people who had not seen a dentist for a long time to have a dental check-up and this goal was achieved; hopefully the patients will now continue to see a dentist on a regular basis, which will reduce their risk of dental health problems.

In addition to the 396 patients who visited the bus for a check-up, a further 325 patients received information about oral hygiene.

The bus has been touring Oxfordshire since November and it made its final stop at Sainsbury’s Heyford Hill store in Oxford on the 23rd February.

Mr Hariri said that everyone was delighted with the figures and added that he hopes that more people will prioritise oral health as a result of visiting the tooth bus. The bus has now moved to Hampshire.
