Officials in Aruba have confirmed that a jawbone found on the Dutch Caribbean island is not that of missing schoolgirl, Natalee Holloway.

The jawbone was found by a tourist and send to Holland for analysis; yesterday, Dutch forensic scientists ruled out the possibility of the bone belonging to the missing Alabama schoolgirl. They confirmed the bone was human but claimed they did not know who it belonged to; the dental records provided by Natalee’s father did not match the bone found in Aruba recently.

Natalee Holloway disappeared on a school trip to Aruba in 2005; she was 18 when she was last seen on the last night of her trip leaving a bar with a Dutch man.

Officials in Aruba have stressed that they will continue to look for clues surrounding the disappearance of the schoolgirl but this latest news is just another setback for Natalee’s family. Natalee’s parents are expected to make a statement in the near future.
