North East dentist urges holidaymakers to book check-ups before they fly

Sample News Big

Spring has arrived, and before we know it, it’ll be time to jet off and enjoy a well-earned rest in the sun. Before you start stocking up on sunscreen, North East dentist, Dr Richard Coates, recommends booking a dental check.

Flying can increase the risk of dental pain as a result of a condition known as barodontalgia, which occurs as a result of changing pressure in the cabin. These changes in pressure cause air pockets to expand, resulting in shooting pain. If you have cavities, old filings or crowns that are need in repair, you may find that your holiday gets off to an unfortunate start. Nobody wants to spend their time off nursing toothache, so the best thing to do, according to Dr Coates, is to see a dentist before you go away.

If you schedule a dental appointment, your dentist can check your general oral health and have a look at fillings and crowns and make sure they’re in good working order before you fly, giving you peace of mind and reducing your risk of spending your holiday tackling toothache.
