New Zealanders Eager to Take Advantage of Low Dental Fees in Thailand

A growing number of New Zealanders are visiting Thailand to take advantage of low dental fees and attractive package holiday deals.

Graeme Hunter is just one of many who have boarded a plane and headed to the popular holiday destination in pursuit of dental treatment. Mr Hunter had avoided his local dentist for a while, but was shocked to learn that he needed thousands of dollars worth of treatment. After receiving a quote in New Zealand, Mr Hunter started researching treatment abroad online and he was surprised to discover that he could get the treatment he needed and enjoy a two week holiday in Thailand with his wife for less.

Mr Hunter travelled to Thailand for two weeks at the end of last year and he had eight days worth of treatment. In total, he had six new crowns and nine fillings fitted, in addition to having root canal treatment on four teeth. At home, the process would have taken around six weeks. He hasn’t had any issues yet and was delighted with the service provided by the dental package tour operator.

Mr Hunter’s story is increasingly commonplace as more and more people look to travel abroad to save money on dental fees. Thailand has emerged as a popular dental tourism spot for travellers from Australia and Western Europe, while Mexico and Brazil continue to tempt dental patients from North America to cross the border.
