A brand new, state of the art dental training facility has opened in Bradford. The new centre, which cost around £500,000, is housed with the Advanced Technology Centre at Bradford College.

The centre is equipped with the latest technology and it is hoped that its first-class training resources will enable dental healthcare staff in the region to develop their skills and further their knowledge.

The training centre boasts a host of innovative gadgets, resources, and training devices, including phantom heads, which enable healthcare staff and students to practice on lifelike mannequins and prepare for scenarios they will encounter in real life.

The NORDEC (Northern Dental Education Centre) facility is a joint venture between Bradford College and the Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership and it will make a difference to hundreds of people within the dental industry. As well as dummy patients, those who wish to expand their skillset and hone their clinical skills will have access to classrooms set up like dental treatment rooms and there is also a decontamination suite and a series of state of the art lecture theatres on site.

The centre, which is due to opened officially by Judith Cummins MP next month, will benefit apprentice dental nurses, dental students and dental professionals who are hoping to further their careers. The centre will also be used to provide training for those who are hoping to pursue a career in dentistry.
