New Recruits Celebrate Their First Week on the Job as Petroc Launches New Dental Nurse Apprenticeship

Sample News Big

New recruits on Petroc’s first ever dental nurse apprenticeship scheme in North Devon have celebrated the end of their first week on the job.

The programme is new to the college’s curriculum this year and provides students with the chance to gain a Diploma in Dental Nursing. As part of the course, the apprentices will be completing work placements, which give them the ideal opportunity to see what it is like to work in a dental practice and enable them to develop their practical and communication skills.

Sarah Huxtable, a dental nurse who teaches on the programme, said that there is always a demand for dental nurses and apprentices are in short supply in North Devon, so a scheme is a real boost to the area.

At the end of the diploma, the apprentices will be qualified to work as dental nurses or take on further studies to work as dental therapists.

The college is now inviting people who are interested in the scheme to apply for the next intake in November. There are only a limited number of places available, so early application is recommended.
