A new dental surgery has opened its doors to patients in Gloucestershire.

The Archway Dental Practice in Stroud opened yesterday and patients queued to register at the new surgery. Yesterday, around 600 new patients joined the practice register and a further 7,200 places are now available for patients in the local area.

Steve Clarke, senior partner of the practice, said that the team had been very busy trying to get the surgery ready and making efforts to ensure as many people as possible could benefit from their services.

Several residents interviewed in the local press said they had struggled to find an NHS dentist in the past and had been forced to sign up with a private practice. The new surgery on London Road will now ensure people have NHS services on their doorstep. Several patients who had previously been registered with a private dentist said that they rarely visited their dentist because the cost of treatment was too high; now they can visit their new NHS dentist on a regular basis without having to worry about the cost.

The Archway Dental Practice has four surgeries and will eventually employ four dentists; two dentists are currently working at the practice and the other two are expected to start next week. Representatives from NHS Gloucestershire said they were delighted with the new practice and would continue to work to improve local services across the county.
