Nova Southeastern University has opened new dental and eye clinics to help children in South Florida.

Children from South Florida can now receive treatment at NSU’s new Kid Dental Clinic and the Eye Care Institute at Kid; both clinics are located on the Wilton Manors Campus of Kids in Distress. Kids in Distress is a non-profit organisation, which helps poor children and children who have been abused or abandoned. The new eye and dental clinics will be used to help children cared for by Kids in Distress but all children living in the local area will be invited to attend the clinics. Adult patients will also be invited to use the eye clinic.

Jan Albert, vice president of human resources at Kids in Distress, said that the clinics would provide a valuable service to local children; representatives from Kids in Distress are looking forward to working alongside members of staff from NSU to help local children and improve standards of oral health in the area.

The clinics will be run by NSU staff but volunteer dentists from the Broward County Dental Association will also help out when needed. Both clinics will also provide excellent training opportunities for third and fourth year optometry and dental students.
