Representatives from the mydentist chain have confirmed that its Bury St Edmunds practice in King’s Road will close at the end of February.

The clinic, which was already ceased providing NHS dental treatment, will close completely on the 28th February, it has been revealed. In the coming weeks, dentists will be attempting to complete courses of treatment and emergency services will be available.

A spokesperson for the chain said that the clinic will close as a result of unsustainable running costs and the company is encouraging patients registered with the King’s Road practice to contact its sister surgery on Risbygate Street. There is currently a waiting list, but the chain is hoping to make more places available in the coming months.

Simon Evans, from NHS England, confirmed that discussions were underway to identify ways of improving access to NHS care in the area and stated that alternative options were being explored. Anyone who is looking for an NHS dental practice in their local area is advised to look at the NHS Choices website or contact 111 for information about NHS dental services and practices that may be offering dental places.
