A two in one timer had been designed to help with children’s oral and hand hygiene by a Mother of two in Berkshire.
Rachel Stephens came up with the idea for a Wash & Brush Timer struggling to get her own children to spend longer cleaning teeth and washing hands.
Rachel, Marketing and PR expert, who has two children, said: “All kids rush hand washing and teeth brushing, it’s a fact. The product is based on my own struggles as a parent.”
The timer ensures that children slow down and clean all their teeth properly, the timer is also described as ‘easy-to-see’ and ‘easy-to-press’.
Rachel added: “When it’s time to wash hands, press the hand button and the green LED light will flash for 20 seconds, then when all clean and ready to towel dry the red light appears to say done.”
The product was launched earlier his month but is already available to buy in some dental store, the feedback received means that proud inventor, Rachel, will now look to selling her product in dentist practices.
She added: “We started to research the idea and found someone who had patented the concept. We approached them to license the IPR and created our own version and included the hand washing feature as well.
“People have used egg timer-type products but they get moved, lost, taken out of the bathroom. This is wall mountable and has suction so it stays in place.”
