Mothers ‘treat themselves with Botox’

Botox is no longer a treatment reserved for the rich and famous, reports the Sydney Morning Herald.

The publication claims that an increasing number of ordinary, everyday women are choosing the wrinkle smoothing injections as a little treat for themselves after having children.

"They’ve gone through all the pregnancies, the breastfeeding and sleepless nights. The attention’s all been on the baby, they’re not feeling good and they think, ‘What about me? And they’re doing something about it," said Marilyn Cassetta, cosmetic nurse at Silkwood Medical in Bondi Junction.

According to the newspaper, many women are spending around AUD$1,500 (£689) every four to six months to improve their appearance.

One mother-of-three explained that she started having regular Botox and filler treatments when she turned 42.

Although she admitted her husband does not know about the purchases, she claimed her friends have all commented on how good she looks.

Simon Cowell recently claimed in an interview with Glamour magazine that having regular Botox treatments was no more unusual than using toothpaste.ADNFCR-1374-ID-18536372-ADNFCR
