Mother arrested for neglecting to take her child to the dentist
A young mother from South Carolina has been charged with child neglect after failing to take her child, who had advanced tooth decay, to a specialist.
The 19-year-old mother was advised by a dentist to seek treatment from a specialist in child tooth decay. However, as the specialist did not accept Medicaid, she did not take the matter any further.
She has been criticised for failing to return to the dentist or find another specialist who would accept Medicaid.
