More people 'should consider cosmetic dentistry'

More people 'should consider cosmetic dentistry'About 90 per cent of people could benefit from a complete smile makeover, it has been claimed.

According to information service Teeth Whitening Pro, cost is the biggest barrier that people face when considering cosmetic surgery.

However, the firm claimed that porcelain veneers are decreasing in price and are therefore emerging as a more accessible treatment.

"Dental veneers and laminates can turn a smile with teeth that are chipped and gapped into a beautiful flawless smile by resurfacing teeth with a thin ceramic coating that also fills in the chips and gaps," it explained.

The company also recommended teeth whitening as another treatment that more people should take into consideration.

It stated that although yellowing teeth are not necessarily unhealthy, a stained smile can be unattractive.

The British Academy of Dentistry has highlighted the rising popularity of television makeover shows as one of the factors in the increasing demand for veneers.

According to the organisation, veneers are used on nearly every one of these programmes.ADNFCR-1374-ID-18622196-ADNFCR
