Mission of Mercy Organisers Plan to Visit More Dental Clinics

Sample News Big

The organisers of a huge free dental clinic are planning more events, following the success of a Mission of Mercy clinic in Missouri last weekend.

Around 200 dentists volunteered at the two-day event, which took place at the Ozark Empire Fairground on Friday and Saturday. Over the course of the two days, $1 million worth of dental care was given away free of charge and almost two thousand people were treated.

Such was the demand for free dental care in the state that people started to queue for the clinic, which was due to open at 6am on Friday morning, on Thursday, with some waiting in line for up to 20 hours to try and secure an appointment.

Darren Mahaffey, co-chair of the Missouri Mission of Mercy, said that he could not be happier with the way the clinic went and suggested that more events would take place in the state in the future.

The clinic was sponsored by Delta Dental, McDonalds, Subway, DentaQuest, Doubletree Hotel and Heart of the Ozarks Sertoma Club.
