A dental office in Shreveport, Louisiana, is hosting a free dental clinic on Saturday 11th January as part of the Dentistry from the Heart programme.

A Brighter Smile Dental Care will provide free dental care, including fillings, tooth extraction and cleaning treatments, on Saturday as part of a nationwide initiative to enable people without dental insurance to access dental care. Dentists all over the USA and Canada support the programme, which is run by the charity, Dentistry from the Heart, giving up one or two days a year to offer free dental treatment to local people in need.

Sarah McKinney, from A Brighter Smile Dental Care, said that the event will run from 8am and confirmed that patients will have access to one extraction, cleaning treatment or filling.

The office, which is located on Bert Kouns Industrial Loop, will be opening early for the event and patients are advised to arrive early to avoid disappointment. The clinic is open to all and a brief medical history will be taken before treatment is administered; this will include a blood pressure check.

Appointments will be available between 8am and 2pm and registration kicks off at 7.30am.

Dentistry from the Heart events take place all year round and are supported by dentists, dental hygienists and nurses all over the country.
