A dental team from Longbridge, Birmingham, hosted a charity clothes swap last Saturday 14th March.

The team from Hawkins and Wilson Dental Care, which is located on Bristol Road South just outside the city centre, invited patients, colleagues, members of the public, family and friends to bring in items of clothing and swap them for other people’s offerings in a bid to raise money for a good cause.

On the day, the clinic was converted into a clothes shop and people were invited to come in and browse and see if anything took their fancy. The event was held in aid of Breaking the Silence, a charity which works to help those who suffer from domestic abuse as well as those involved in human trafficking and arranged marriage. Charity founder Raj Honess also attended the event.

Gemma Bowen, receptionist at the practice, said that the event was a huge success and everyone had a great time. The staff team was a little nervous and apprehensive in the lead up to the event, but it went really well and generated a huge amount of interest in the local community.

In total, the event raised £715 for the charity, which far exceeded the team’s target of £400.

The clinic regularly hosts charity events and anyone who would like information about upcoming fundraisers is advised to contact Gemma on 0121 4756569.
