Llangollen dental practice closes unexpectedly

A dental practice in Llangollen has closed unexpectedly, leaving patients with an uncertain future. The Chapel Street surgery closed last week (Monday 15th January) with patients arriving at the clinic to find a note on the door.

Patients have been advised to find alternative arrangements following the sudden closure and some are very worried about finding a new dentist. Stuart Davies, a patient at the practice, said that it was a shock to discover the news, as the clinic was always busy. He added that it was a real shame for the town and for patients registered with the surgery because there is a shortage of NHS dentists in the area and it will be difficult to find a local surgery that is taking on new patients.

The closure of the practice is a blow for patients, but health campaigner, Cllr Mabon ap Gwynfor, also has concerns about the impact on other local practices. The sudden closure could increase pressure on local services and resources and the worry is that there will not be enough NHS dental places to go around.

In light of the news, a spokesperson from Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board confirmed that the board is working to put temporary measures in place until a permanent solution can be identified.
