Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust has announced the launch of Family Health Week, which will begin on Monday next week and run until Friday.

A number of sessions will take place in Oakham and Uppingham next week, with dental health and nutrition taking centre stage. The aim of the week is to encourage people to live healthier lives and to educate families about the benefits of exercise, making healthy lifestyle choices and healthy eating.

Throughout the week, health visitors and nurses will be running sessions, which are informal and interactive and games and fun events will be taking place to entertain and educate children.

Nicy Turner, spokesperson for the trust, said that everyone is really excited about the event, as it promises to be great fun, as well as being an effective means of getting important messages across and helping to provide people with the information they need to make positive lifestyle choices.

During the week, there will be around 30 different workshops taking place, covering a wide range of topics, including oral health and dental care, antenatal care, stress and anxiety, diet and nutrition and smoking.

The sessions will be taking place at various locations across Rutland. The Monday sessions will be held at Visions in Oakham, Tuesday sessions will take place at St George’s Barracks, North Luffenham, Wednesday’s workshops will be at Kendrew Barracks and Vision’s, Oakham and the final day of workshops will be held at Uppingham Library.
