One of the UK’s leading cosmetic dentists expects Meghan Markle to top the list of the most-wanted celebrity smiles this year.
Dr Richard Marques, a dentist well-known for creating celebrity smiles, has already seen a number of patients asking for a smile similar to the Duchess’, and he expects the trend to continue in the months ahead. Meghan takes over the mantle from her sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, whose smile became the envy of many after her wedding. Both the duchesses have very natural-looking, beautiful smiles, and Dr Marques believes the natural look has replaced the all-out Hollywood smile in recent years.
Dr Marques said that Meghan’s smile is appealing because of its whiteness and healthy glow and also the near-perfect alignment of the teeth. Meghan is known as a smiley, friendly person, and she’s rarely caught on camera sporting any other look than a beaming grin.
In line with the popularity of Meghan’s smile, Dr Marques is anticipating an increase in interest in treatments including invisible braces, veneers and tooth whitening. Meghan’s old school and college yearbooks suggest that she may have had braces to close a gap between her front teeth, and Dr Marques claims that she may have also had cosmetic treatment to whiten her teeth.
Dr Marques also predicts that 2019 will see more people willing to spend more time on achieving the perfect smile. He expects the soaring popularity of quick-fix solutions like veneers to slow slightly in favour of longer-term options like orthodontic braces and aesthetic bonding and reshaping.
