Kids in South Gloucestershire have UK’s brightest smiles
It has been revealed that kids from South Gloucester have some of the healthiest teeth in the country.
Thornbury News reports that an NHS survey studied dental decay in five-year-olds all over the country and South Gloucester’s kids’ smiles were the brightest.
The report revealed 69 per cent of the children were free of obvious dental decay, had no decay, missing teeth due to decay, or fillings.
It said that just 20.8 per cent of kids that were examined in South Gloucestershire had obvious dental decay, fillings or missing teeth because of decay.
Dr Chris Payne, director South Gloucestershire NHS, said accessing NHS dental care is a concern of many patients so it was good news that South Gloucestershire was doing so well at keeping up such high standards of dental care.
Almost 140,000 five-year-olds took part in the survey which visited state schools across 147 Primary Care Trusts.
