Kidderminster Dental Practice Manager Gearing Up For Marathon Challenge

A dental practice manager from Kidderminster is preparing to take on the London Marathon this weekend, in order to raise money for charity.

Claire Pawson is gearing up for the challenge, which involves running more than 26 miles around the streets of London, to raise money for Children with Cancer UK. The charity provides help and support for children and their families affected by cancer.

This year’s race, which is due to take place on Sunday, has been overshadowed by events inBoston. Tragically, three people died and hundreds were injured after two separate bombs exploded close to the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Among the dead was an 8 year old boy who was waiting to congratulate his father on completing the famous race. His mother and sister were also injured in the race.

In light of the Boston explosions, security has been increased ahead of the London Marathon but organisers have insisted that the race will still happen and runners are determined to compete. The competitors are not only raising money for the charities that they are supporting, but also in memory of those who lost their lives in Boston.

Claire has stated that she will give the race her best shot on Sunday and said that events in Boston were ‘dreadful’. She also said that she isn’t worried about the safety of the race and urged fellow runners to give their ‘all’ this weekend.
