A pair of dentists from Keswick joined dental professionals from all over the country to take part in a charity bike ride to raise money for Make a Wish UK.

Simon and Lindsey Welch, from Fitz Park Dental Practice, cycled 287 miles in just 3 days to raise money for the charity, which arranges trips, outings and experiences for children and teenagers with terminal illnesses. Simon and Lindsey were part of a team of around 18 dental professionals who took on the gruelling ride from Paris, France to London. The riders set off from the Eiffel Tower, heading north to Calais through the countryside where temperatures peaked at 34 degrees. After staying over in Calais, the team crossed the channel on a ferry and climbed aboard their bikes at Dover before making their way through the Kent countryside and ending the epic journey on The Mall at Buckingham Palace.

Lindsey said that the ride was incredibly tough, especially because of the heat, but insisted that it was a special experience that she will remember forever. The team’s arrival in London happened to coincide with record breaking June temperatures in the capital.

Make A Wish UK does such an amazing job making the wishes of sick children come true and the duo was delighted to support such a worthy cause.

Lindsey and Simon thanked everyone who has donated to the appeal.
