Juliette Binoche criticises Botox

People who have Botox "look older" is not a claim often heard, but that is the opinion of French actress Juliette Binoche.

The Academy Award winner said that women who have had the treatment display a "fear of ageing on their face".

She claimed that the US is obsessed with looking younger and having large breasts.

"In France, beauty is much more subtle - and there is a greater acceptance of age," said the 44-year-old. "We think it's more about looking after yourself than going down the artificial route."

The Chocolat star added that there is too much pressure in the US for women to have cosmetic surgery in order to maintain their looks.

However, many celebrities have recently spoken out about their love of the age defying treatment, including John Barrowman, judge on BBC1's I'd Do Anything and Ugly Betty actress Vanessa Williams.
