John Lennon’s Tooth Necklace Reaches Gloucestershire On UK Tour

A unique piece of memorabilia is touring the UK to raise awareness of mouth cancer; a DNA necklace, made from John Lennon’s tooth, has been displayed in several dental practices across the country over the course of the last month and the tooth has now reached Gloucestershire.

The necklace, which is a silver peace sign design, was made by a Hollywood jewellery designer from Lennon’s tooth, which was purchased at auction by Canadian dentist, Dr Michael Zuk, last year.

Dr Zuk agreed to the tour of the UK to coincide with Mouth Cancer Action Month, which ran throughout November and the Give Teeth a Chance campaign; dentists are using the tooth to attract patients to the surgery in order to provide them with information about mouth cancer and offer oral cancer screening.

The tooth is now on display at Greyholme Dental Suite in Bishop’s Cleeve, near Cheltenham; members of staff dressed up in 60’s fancy dress to welcome the tooth and the practice provided free oral cancer screening last month.

Receptionist Margaret Brown said that that the tooth had created a lot of excitement and people were looking forward to seeing a unique example of John Lennon memorabilia.
