A necklace, which features part of John Lennon’s tooth, is continuing its tour of the UK; the tooth is heading to the North West today and will be displayed at practices in Chorley and Preston.

The tooth was purchased by a Canadian dentist, Dr Michael Zuk, last year and he had the tooth incorporated in a specially made DNA necklace, which was designed by Hollywood jeweller, Ari Soffer. The tooth has been touring the UK to allow Beatles fans to see the unique momentum and also to help raise awareness of mouth cancer as part of Mouth Cancer Action Month, which will run throughout November.

Claire Lord, from Southport Road Dental Practice in Chorley, said that everyone is excited about the arrival of the tooth; she also said that she hopes that the necklace will encourage patients to visit the practice and have a screening check for oral cancer. Free sessions will be available on November 28th and all patients who have a screening test will be invited to have a photograph with the necklace.

The necklace will also be visiting Adelphi Dental Care in Preston and the team will be hosting free cancer screening on the day of its arrival, the 19th November. Dr Alex Wong said that the team was delighted to be supporting Mouth Cancer Action Month is such a unique and fun way.

The tooth will be touring a total of 16 dental practices in the UK during the month of November. The tooth was bought at auction for £19,000 and the necklace is estimated to be worth $25,000.
