Indian dentists appeal against import duty on equipment
Indian dentists are calling on their government to slash the import duty on dental equipment.
Dr Anil Kohli, president of the Indian National Dental Council, called on the government to reduce the tax and said that the high cost of equipment and imports is driving up the cost of treatments.
The Federation of Operative Dentistry of India is now backing Dr Kohli’s demands to put further pressure on the government.
While on his soapbox, Dr Kohli also took the opportunity to call for more endodentic postgraduate programs to be made available as there are only 1,000 places currently available on courses in the South Asian country.
