Indian Dental Association promotes No Tabacco Day

The Dakshina Kannada branch of the Indian Dental Association promoted No Tobacco Day, by hosting a string of events in Mangalore city.

Dentists and representatives from the IDA joined members of the public and staff and students from A B Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences to celebrate the event. Staff and students put on a street show, which kept the audience captivated for over an hour and Dr Rajendra Prasad addressed the crowd, encouraging people to protect their health and provided information about the health risks associated with smoking and help and support available for people who wanted to quit.

No Tobacco Day is an international initiative, which is designed to raise awareness of the health implications of smoking and encourage people to live a healthier lifestyle. Smoking is linked to a host of health conditions, including an increased risk of heart disease, strokes and cancer, as well as contributing to oral health diseases and problems with fertility.
