Ilkley patients still waiting for dental treatment

Sample News Big

Patients that signed up for NHS dental care in Ilkley are still waiting to be allocated a place; some residents have been waiting since 2008.

Patients in the area were asked to add their names to a list for NHS dental care following a change in the structure of NHS care back in 2008. Care in Ilkley was to be provided by Genesis Dental Care and NHS Bradford and Airedale announced their plans to employ a new NHS dentist in the area.

Despite the unveiling of new plans, many residents are yet to hear anything from their local NHS trust and are becoming increasingly concerned as two years have now passed and many patients have still not heard whether they will be registered with an NHS dentist. Several locals claim they have not heard anything from either NHS Bradford and Airedale or Genesis Dental Care, despite being at the top of the registration list.

NHS Bradford and Airedale said they were contacting patients based on the date they initially signed up for NHS care and it was taking a long time to get through the lengthy list of residents but have assured local people that Genesis Dental Care is gradually working through the contact list and inviting patients to arrange their first dental appointment.
