Hope for dental patients in Dolgellau, as new practice opens nearly 2 years after mydentist closure

Dental patients in the Welsh town of Dolgellau finally have something to smile about, after a new practice opened nearly two years after its only clinic shut.

Mydentist closed in spring 2017, and since then, patients have struggled to get a dental appointment. Practices in nearby Porthmadog and Aberystwyth were over-subscribed, leaving patients with option of paying for private care, going without a dentist or driving around 50 miles to see an NHS dentist.

Now, local people have hope, after Dr Mostafa Hassaan opened a new practice in the town. Supported by Barclays, Dr Hassaan secured funding to open Eirlys Dental Practice. The clinic already has 3,000 registered patients and the opening of the surgery has created eight new jobs. There are also plans to hire more members of staff as the practice expands.

Dr Hassaan has opened his new practice in the former county hall and magistrates court on Bridge Street. The premises have been vacant for two years.
