Honour Health has become the first dental clinic in the North East to support a national children’s oral health programme. Based in Stanley, County Durham, and offering the latest dental and skincare treatments, Honour Health has joined forces with the Teeth Team campaign to try and improve standards of oral health among local children.

Teeth Team is an established oral health campaign, which is designed to deliver dental education to primary school children. The aim is to encourage dental professionals to visit schools and nurseries in their local area to talk to children about oral hygiene, healthy eating and other oral health-related issues and provide basic dental services. The first local school to experience the Teeth Team treatment was St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School. Recently, children at the Stanley school were visited by Honour Health’s Lewis Kapa and dental nurse, Julie Hughes. During their time at the school, Lewis and Julie provided dental checks and fluoride varnish treatment and they spoke to the children about cleaning the teeth and making healthy food choices. They were also on hand to talk to parents and offer advice about accessing local NHS dental services.

In six months’ time, the team from Honour Health will go back to the school to provide routine assessments and they have also helped the staff to implement a daily supervised brushing scheme.

Honour Health owner, Onkar Dhanoya, said that he was thrilled to be the first dental business to support Teeth Team in the region. Honour Health has clinics in Stanley, Jesmond and Ponteland.
