Health chiefs confirm closure of dental practice serving Rothbury and Hadston

Health chiefs have confirmed the closure of a Northumberland dental practice, which serves the villages of Rothbury and Hadston.

NHS England has revealed that dentist, Simon Francis, is unable to continue to provide NHS treatment due to ‘personal circumstances’ and as a result, Coquetdale Dental Practice will remain closed to patients from Friday 13th October.

NHS dental patients who currently access services at the practice have been advised to seek alternative providers in nearby towns and villages. A spokeswoman for NHS England said that it was understandable that the closure would make some residents anxious, but assured the public that there are local practices currently accepting new patients. Health chiefs are also looking into ways to improve access to NHS dental services in light of the closure.

Patients who are part-way through treatment will be given priority in terms of relocating to nearby clinics.
