A Hatfield dental clinic is appealing to local residents to get tested for oral cancer this November in support of Mouth Cancer Action Month.

Birchwood Dental Practice will be offering free mouth cancer screening this month as part of the British Dental Health Foundation’s annual Mouth Cancer Action Month campaign.

Principal dentist Dipak Patal said that the campaign provides the perfect opportunity to reach out to people and educate them about oral cancer, a common type of cancer in the UK.

Screening tests will be available on Wednesday 4th November between 2pm and 4pm and the dental team will be on hand to talk to patients about oral cancer, answer questions and offer advice.

During the session, which is open to all, dentist Dr Rushil Lachhani will be providing quick and simple screening tests free of charge.

Mr Patal is particularly keen to encourage those who have not had a dental check-up for a while to get in touch.

Mouth Cancer Action Month will run throughout November. The aim is to provide people with information about the causes and symptoms of oral cancer, urge them to visit their dentist for regular check-ups and book a screening session.
