Harry Styles Inspires Tooth Whitening Boom
One Direction’s Harry Styles has inspired a boom in the popularity of tooth whitening among younger people.
A survey carried out by Pearlys, a leading manufacturer of whitening products, revealed the handsome pop star had the most enviable celebrity smile, followed by the Duchess of Cambridge. In contrast, Jeremy Clarkson and Chloe Sims of The Only Way is Essex star were found to have the least popular smiles.
Figures for Pearlys revealed an 18 per cent increase in sales of their professional home whitening kit. The overall popularity of tooth whitening products has increased by around 500 per cent among young men aged between 18 and 25. This is largely attributed to the popularity of young male celebrities like Harry Styles and his band mates.
Founder of Pearlys, Liz Ridley, said people are “dazzled” by Harry’s smile and that this has inspired young men to have whitening treatment. She added that it was no surprise to see Jeremy Clarkson, a heavy smoker, finish towards the top of the least enviable smile list.
Whitening products have become increasingly popular over the course of the last decade as a result of celebrity smiles and a trend for bright white smiles among the Hollywood elite, reality television stars and models.
