Free dental examinations will be provided for around 100 children in Philadelphia, it has been announced.

The free dental check-ups will be provided by the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in conjunction with United Concordia Dental and the Cathedral of Praise Community Church.

The free dental clinic, which will take place at the church on Haverford Avenue, will be open to children who participate in the Cathedral Learning Center and Motivational Achievement programme; children must be aged between 18 months and 13 years. The clinic will open between 10:30am and 12:30pm on Friday 8th April and 2:30pm and 4:30pm on Friday 29th April.

Children will be treated by students from the University of Pennsylvania dental school and volunteer dental staff; examinations will be carried out and children who need further treatment will be referred. Students will also take the opportunity to talk to children about oral health and how to look after their teeth and gums.
