Workers from labour camps in Dubai have been given free dental check-ups, as part of a campaign to raise awareness of the importance of oral health.

The ‘Healthy Mouth, Healthy Nation’ campaign, run by Crest and Oral B, is designed to teach people about oral hygiene and make them aware of the importance of good oral health. As part of the campaign, free dental check-ups are being offered to people in the United Arab Emirates.

The check-ups are provided by volunteer dentists, who also take the time to talk to people about healthy eating and oral hygiene. The programme will provide more than 32,000 people with free check-ups over the course of the next month.

Mohammed Ali Faruqi, brand manager of Crest and Oral B in the Arabian Peninsula, said that the campaign aims to improve standards of oral health across the region and provide people with the knowledge and information they need to protect their teeth and gums from oral health diseases. He added that the free check-ups are an important part of the campaign. Since the campaign was launched in September 2011, more than 90,000 people have benefited from a free check-up and the aim is to increase this number to one million by September 2012.
