Fixodent add zinc caution after lawsuits

Fixodent has added a caution to users on its website after a number of customers filed a lawsuit against its parent company.

Procter and Gamble has had a number of lawsuits filed against it by angry Fixodent customers who claim that the denture adhesive can damage user’s health via zinc ingestion.

A spokesman for Parker Waichman Alonso, the legal company who has filed lawsuits against Procter and Gamble, said that it feels that there is a lack of clear warning on Fixodent packets and also claimed that the instructions for use too unclear.

It also called on the manufacturer to remove the product from the market place.

The new caution says that some reports have suggested that excessive and prolonged exposure to zinc may have adverse effects to health.

Findings by the University of Texas in 2008 suggested that over use of denture adhesives, which contain zinc, could cause neurological problems.

Procter and Gamble has claimed that the amount of zinc ingested daily by Fixodent users would be less than in a daily multivitamin tablet.
