Elvis’ Tooth Gets Lost In The Post On The Way To Bracknell Dental Clinic

There was panic at a Bracknell dental practice when an eagerly-anticipated parcel didn’t arrive on time. The team at Appledore Dental Clinic was preparing to take delivery of Elvis Presley’s crown, which has been touring the UK, only to discover that it had been lost in the post.

The parcel was expected to arrive first thing on Thursday morning last week, but didn’t arrive until five hours later after a mix-up with labelling. After a short period of mild panic, the situation was sorted and the parcel was redirected. It had been on its way to Dundee, but was soon travelling in the right direction. FedEx apologised for the error and delivered the crown safe and sound at 3.30pm.

The unusual piece of memorabilia has been doing the rounds in practices around the country to raise awareness of mouth cancer. It is owned by a Canadian dentist, who has a collection of interesting curios, including John Lennon’s tooth.

Dr Teresa Day, from the practice, said that there was a great deal of excitement in the air when a delivery arrived, but it was a small parcel containing dental equipment, which was intended for a clinic on the Isle of Wight and everyone was disappointed that the parcel had not arrived as expected. The team was expecting the crown, along with a load of decorations and fancy dress outfits and they had to delay the party and explain to patients that the crown had been sent to the wrong place and would arrive later.
