Edinburgh Cosmetic Dentists Help Ex-Squaddie Smile on His Wedding Day

Cosmetic dentists in Edinburgh have come to the rescue after learning that an ex-squaddie was too embarrassed to smile on his wedding day. Neil Raeburn, who suffers from fibromyalgia, was so ashamed of the state of his teeth that he was dreading posing for the camera on his big day, which is due to take place this autumn.

Mr Raeburn had already had basic NHS dental treatment at a practice in Leith. When a new owner took over the practice along with Vitaliteeth next door, a review of his case was carried out. During this process, dentists discovered that Mr Raeburn, who has served in Bosnia, Iraq and Northern Ireland with the army, was now suffering from fibromyalgia. He was increasingly concerned by the prospect of smiling in public on his wedding day. After finding out more about Mr Raeburn’s situation, the generous dentists at Vitaliteeth decided to intervene and are now providing Mr Raeburn with £8,000 worth of free dental treatment.

Relationship manager and patient coordinator Una Moran said there was no hesitation to act when Mr Raeburn’s case was reviewed and everyone is looking forward to the big reveal and seeing him smile with confidence.

Mr Raeburn is currently living on a small military pension and has recently had a specialist car taken off him. The practice wanted to help and now Neil can look forward to marrying long-term partner Kathryn later this year. The couple have been together for several years and they have two sons aged two and eight.

Neil said he is incredibly grateful to everybody at Vitaliteeth and described their decision to provide treatment as an “incredible gift.” He is apprehensive about undergoing treatment, especially as fibromyalgia makes him sensitive to pain, but he is also really excited to see his new smile and show it off when he marries Kathryn.
