Cosmetic dentists can not only enhance the appearance of a patient’s smile but also deal with the problem of bad breath, it has been reported.

US Dentist Dr Thomas O’Neil explained that the embarrassing condition can have a serious impact on social interaction at work and in patients’ spare time.

Although chronic bad breath can often result as a symptom of other underlying medical issues such as diabetes, allergies and liver disease, sometimes tooth decay and infections can be a factor, he said.

Dr O’Neil claimed that more often than not, breath problems can be identified by a dentist.

He said: "Dental treatment for chronic breath problems will typically involve tongue scraping (debridgement), gum treatment and the removal of tooth decay."

Dallas cosmetic dentist Dr Gary Alhadef has previously reported that cosmetic dentistry is successful in addressing a range of issues.

He advised anyone who is unhappy with their smile to visit a cosmetic dentist for a tooth makeover.ADNFCR-1374-ID-18448588-ADNFCR
