Costa Rica, located within easy reach of Canada and America, is a popular choice thanks to the cost of treatment, which is often considerably cheaper than having treatment in Canada or America.
The most popular treatments people travelled to Costa Rica for included knee and hip replacements, weight loss surgery, cosmetic surgery and dental implants, veneers and crowns.
Tourists making the trip from America can expect to save up to 70 percent and with regular flights available and affordable accommodation on offer, many people are deciding to make the short trip for treatment.
Patients have found that they can combine treatment with a luxury holiday, while still saving a considerable amount of money.
Costa Rica is just one of a number of destinations attracting a growing number of foreign patients. Eastern Europe has also emerged as a major player in the dental tourism industry, as patients from Western Europe and Scandinavia look for ways to save money on dental care and avoid lengthy waiting lists. In recent years, countries including Hungary, Romania, Poland and Bulgaria have become incredibly popular.
