Dental tourism is more popular than ever and a growing number of people are using specialist dental tourism companies to arrange their treatment package.
Dental tourism is popular largely due to the difference in prices between different countries; people living in countries, such as America, the UK and Australia are often faced with large dental bills and many are taking the plunge and going for treatment abroad, where prices can be less than half of those at home. Popular destinations for dental tourists include Mexico, Costa Rica, South East Asia and Eastern Europe.
In addition to the low prices, many of the clinics are brand new and there are usually no waiting lists.
Dental tourism can be a very positive experience but dental experts are eager for members of the public to watch out for potential problems; some dental tourists have fallen for scams, while others have been forced to have treatment re-done at home following botched procedures. Experts urge patients to do their research before they go, choose clinics which have been approved and received positive reviews, check dentist’s qualifications and make sure that the quote has all the costs factored in, including the cost of aftercare if this is included.
