A dental therapist from Aberystwyth  has launched a fundraising appeal to fund a charity trip to Kenya.

Dental therapist Sally Reading, who previously worked as a dental nurse and practice manager, is preparing to travel to Kenya in June as part of a project run by Dentaid. Sally wants to raise a total of £8,000 for the visit to Nyahururu.

Sally has already raised £1,000 and she is dedicating the coming weeks to increasing this amount. During her time in Kenya, Sally and her fellow volunteers from the UK will be helping a local dentist named Ben Mburu. The team will be working at a makeshift local clinic in Kenya’s highest village, providing pain relief and basic dental services.

Sally will spend two weeks in June helping Ben and meeting local people. In the future, the aim is to be able to fund a permanent clinic in the area. This would provide a base for Ben and his colleagues and enable local people to enjoy better facilities. It would provide secure shelter for important dental equipment and supplies.
