A dental team from Deane is taking part in a series of events in order to raise awareness of the National Smile Month campaign, which runs until the 18th June.

The team from Ravat & Ray Dental Care, based on Wigan Road, is hosting a string of showcases and educational sessions around Bolton to educate people about oral health and get them involved in National Smile Month. Earlier this month, dentists, nurses and hygienists visited the Morrisons store on Blackhorse Street to give away goodie bags and offer advice and tips to shoppers. The team will be hosting another showcase in a different branch of Morrisons at the beginning of June and the clinic will be offering free fluoride varnish treatment for children on the 8th June.

Practice manager Mandy Hardman said that it’s always good to support oral health campaigns and to try and reach out to as many people as possible and encourage them to take good care of their oral health. Many people underestimate the importance of good oral health and National Smile Month is a means of getting people interested in oral health issues and hopefully encouraging them to adopt positive habits.

Managing director of the clinic, Martin Weavers, said that the team has worked really hard to make the events as enjoyable as possible. For further details about upcoming events, people are advised to contact the surgery directly.

National Smile Month is run by the British Dental Health Foundation and is an annual campaign. The aim of the scheme is to try and encourage people to follow three easy steps: brush twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, go to the dentist for regular check-ups and cut down on the amount of sugary foods you eat.
